Mold Inhibiting? Does That Mean I Don't Have to Clean My Humidifier?Updated a month ago
If only! We’d love to tell you that Canopy has cracked the code on a never-clean humidifier, but sadly, science isn’t quite there yet. Any humidifier that uses water has the potential for mold growth, but Canopy has taken extra steps to make it as mold-resistant as possible with our Smart Persistent Airflow (SPA) technology which keeps your fan running so long as there's water in the tray. This keeps air moving through the unit, helping to dry out excess moisture and reduce the chances of mold taking up residence.
That being said, a little maintenance goes a long way in keeping your humidifier fresh. Here’s what you can do:
- Never leave standing water in the unit. If you need to turn it off quickly, empty the water first and let the fan run to dry out the interior, especially the tray and filter.
- Clean your humidifier at least once a month—weekly if you’re using it regularly.
- Give your filter a break! Let it dry out at least once a week so it doesn’t stay saturated.
- Keep your humidifier on a clean, dust-free surface. The tray has slits along the sides to maximize airflow, but that also means dust and pet hair can get pulled in. A quick wipe-down of the area will help keep things running smoothly.
So while we haven’t invented a self-cleaning humidifier (yet), Canopy is designed to make maintenance as easy and hassle-free as possible. A little upkeep will ensure your humidifier stays mold-free and continues doing what it does best—keeping your air perfectly hydrated!
